Hi there! If we haven’t met yet, my name is Taylor and I am so glad you are here!!! If you are reading this then hopefully you know that this is the website for my business, TaylorBWeddings. However, this page is no longer solely for my wedding management and planning, but I recently added PHOTOGRAPHY under my belt. So, you can now use the “photography” portion of the website to look at my recent work, check my availability, and book sessions!
With the big addition to the page, I wanted to take some time to tell you a little bit about myself. If you are anything like me, you want to feel comfortable with your photographer!
I graduated High School with no idea of the direction I wanted my life to go in. I had thoughts on being some sort of therapist, being an educator, going into the medical field, and a few others. So, after high school, I decided to go to LCC on a volleyball scholarship and hopefully figure out what I want to do with my life.
At LCC I decided that I would continue my education at ECU to seek a career in education. However, this was not an easy task to get approved by my parents. You see, my mom is an elementary school teacher and so my parents know how underpaid and under appreciated the field is. For my dad to get on board, I remember having to make a giant poster filled with research and my plan of how I could be successful as teacher. Thankfully, we got through it and he gave his approval for me becoming a Middle Grades Educator.
When I graduated from ECU in 2020, I was eager to find a job as a Science or Social Studies teacher. I had no clue that I would be offered a job as an ENGLISH teacher, but I am so glad that I decided to take it. Because of that job, I met the right people (person) who would become a huge piece of my puzzle. One specific person helped guide me through a very difficult era of life where I needed to leave education for a while, but I felt such guilt about quitting in the middle of the year. However, I was told that family was more important and my job was just a job. Because of her, I confidently and comfortably left education for a semester. The next year, things at home settled down (this will be it’s own blog) a bit and I decided to go back to education. The same person that helped me leave a job, is the one that helped me get my current job as a High School English Teacher.
Even though I love my job as an educator, I used to feel like I had lost myself in my job and as a mom. My whole life consumed of taking care of others and I lost all of my old hobbies. However, after my wedding, I decided to make a post about coordinating weddings and it took off! I was able to successfully launch a (side) business in the wedding industry and it helped my feel like an actual person again.
While working in the wedding industry as a Wedding Coordinator/Planner, I have worked with a variety of vendors; a photographer being one of them. I always saw them as the “elite” and thought it would be so cool to be a photographer, but I never thought it would happen for me.
My husband bought me a DSLR camera in 2021 and it took me three years to really pick it up and learn. But now that I have, it has really become a creative outlet for me and I hope to further my experience in the field.
