Hey friends!
This blog is one that is so special to me and I can’t help but to reminisce on such a beautiful day…. my own wedding. Jared and I got married on April 23rd of 2022. We got married at The Rustic Barn in Half Moon with our ceremony at 5pm. We had a beautiful ceremony with cocktail hour and reception to follow.
We started our morning as your typical bridal party would. A few of my bridesmaids and I started our morning with an early hair appointment. We decided that it would be a good idea to have our hair dresser come to my home, since we couldn’t arrive at the venue until ten. When we were able to get into our venue, it was time for makeup. Not all of my bridesmaids chose to have their makeup done and I was totally okay with that! They know how they like their makeup and what they are comfortable with. They all looked beautiful!
For the guys, The Rustic Barn has batting cages and they were so excited for that! They arrived at the venue around twelve and went straight to the cages. When the guys finished hitting baseballs, they still had some time to kill so they stayed outside, smocked their cigars and played corn hole. Jared LOVED this experience with his best friends.
Fun fact: I originally did not want a big bridal party, but my sweet husband wanted a PARTY. Lol so that is exactly what we had. We started the planning process with EIGHT groomsmen and EIGHT bridesmaids. However, I had one bridesmaid that had to back out, which left our bridal party at an odd number. The odd number STRESSED ME OUT!!! I was so upset that Jared had eight groomsmen while I only had seven bridesmaids, but it ended up working perfectly. If you are having the big OR odd numbered bridal party that you did not anticipate…don’t stress! You will have an amazing time with some of your favorite people. And if you find yourself with a small bridal party and wondering if you should go bigger… smaller bridal parties tend to be more intimate and it is true when they say that you won’t talk to all of your bridesmaids, years after your wedding day…
On my wedding day we had mimosas, music, and such a fun time! All of the girls were in a good mood and eager to have their hair done. I decided to have my hair up and their hair down. However, they were able to decide their “down hair style”. For makeup, I had Whitney Graves Bradley come for anyone who wanted their’s done and we up with approximately 7 girls, including my mama. Everyone was very satisfied and feeling beautiful! With me are:
When all of our hair and makeup were done, it was time for the wedding dress and first looks. Over in the Groom’s room, by this point, they had made their way inside to get ready. With Jared:
First Looks
This part of the day was one of our favorites. We started with my dad… and oh boy. He is not a cryer and very rarely does he let his sad emotions out, but he was a total ball of mush. It took him at least five minutes during pictures to speak. I guess it is because I’m his first daughter or maybe he just wasn’t expecting what he saw when he turned around.. but it was a moment that I don’t think I’ll ever forget. After my dad, it was my brother’s turn. I ten out of ten recommend having a first look with your brother (if you have one). He was so cute and sweet. He always makes me feel like a princess.
I know a first look between the groom and his mom is not typical, but I am SO GLAD that we added this into our timeline. It is something Jared and his mom will remember for the rest of their lives.
Our Details:
When Jared and I first started planning our wedding, I knew that I wanted to add as many personal touches as possible.. and by that, I don’t mean engraved napkins and guest books. While we did have those things, we had so much more. And just to mention a few:
Jared and I’s wedding day was what some may call “untraditional”, but to us, it was perfect. Our kids were the perfect addition and we couldn’t image the day without them. We were surrounded by loving family and friends that were so excited to celebrate us and our vendors worked together to pull off a perfect day.
If you stuck it out this long, THANK YOU! Keep scrolling for some more photos as well as our vendor list. Until next time..
XOXO,
